PARTICIPATION IN THE ENTOMOLOGY PROGRAM

Faculty

Professorial faculty (including tenure-track and tenured, senior research, courtesy, visiting, and adjunct); instructors and senior instructors; professional faculty; research associates; faculty research assistants and senior faculty research assistants comprise the Entomology Program faculty. All faculty members are encouraged to participate in program activities including committee work, seminars, and meetings. Additional information about faculty ranks can be found in the OSU Faculty Handbook at: http://oregonstate.edu/facultystaff/handbook/facranks.html

Individuals may request permission to add voting rights to their appointments after at least one year of affiliation. The following should be submitted to the program coordinator:

  1. A letter detailing the reason for the request; it should include long-term career goals and any information on activities and contributions to the program and university that are not readily evident in the C.V.
  2. A current C.V.

This file will be shared with the Program Coordinator’s Advisory Committee (PCAC). The committee may request additional information or a meeting with the applicant. Following review by PCAC, the file will be made available to the voting faculty. It will be presented by a professorial faculty member designated by the committee for discussion at a program faculty meeting (with one week minimum notice). Following the discussion, a vote will be taken by written ballot. Approval requires two-thirds or more “yes” votes from those voting. Ballots may be submitted up to one week after the faculty meeting.

Emeriti

Upon retirement and granting of emeritus status professors are encouraged to participate in program activities. They can continue serving on the Graduate Faculty and stay involved with graduate student teaching and advising. Generally, emeritus professors do not attend faculty meetings and have no voting right.

Students

Any student regardless of Degree or Program can request to be affiliated with the Entomology Program. Requests should be made directly to the director of the Entomology Program. Students enrolled in an Entomology Undergraduate or Graduate Program are automatically accepted.

Students affiliated with the program are encouraged to attend the programs' open meetings.
